I suppose this was bound to happen... mixing the melodious-bliss-grows-into-distorted-panic of Post Rock with the angst of modern-day Screamo. Much to my surprise, Japans Heaven in Her Arms manages to pull this off and serves up a record of surprising new sounds. The post rock instrumentation has been done before but add in the hoarse-throated Japanese wails and weve got ourselves something new here. Kind of sounds like playing God is an Astronaut at max volume while your kid is in the other room screaming at you to turn down the evil music. Check out "Iron Wire and a Canary" and "Erosion of the Black Speckle" to test this one on your pallette.
