I became a huge fan of this guy with his brilliant 2012 release Silentium Amoris, my pick for best non-metal album that year. The music is damn fine synthpop but it's the lyrical tone takes this dude over the top. Every song is filled with a tortured new romanticism that just makes you want to don your favorite FML t-shirt. I'm not ready to say this record is better than it's predecessor but it sure picks up where that one left off with none of the usual follow-up disappointment. The tracks follow a pattern of starting in an unassuming fashion, throwing in some provocative images throughout and finishing with a cacophony of drums, guitars and hum along melodies. Haven't landed on which track stands out the most just yet but check out The Filth and The Fetish for a glimpse into the dark mind of William Control.
