If you would have told me Amorphis would be responsible for one of the best metal albums of 2015, I'd tell you to get your head out of 2001 and try something new on for a change. As it turns out, Amorphis DOES produce one of the best metal albums of the year by doing what they do best. The songs all fit the standard Amorphis formula but the ingredients are perfectly matched. This one will be getting a lot of airplay.

Wow, what a beast of a release! These dudes are serving it up like a hearty Finnish mead. Awesome album, yet I must question the 5 star ranking of the radio friendly Sacrifice (albeit with shredding lead) over the hammond-laced folk-flavored crusher - The Skull...hmmmm, you decide...
Certainly arguable on both accounts. Sacrifice's galloping guitar solo sucked me right in and I'm not above an ear-friendly melody from time to time. The Skull is certainly a worthy track but you know my folkaphobia kept me from a top ranking.
