Jr. continues to broaden my metalcore vocabulary with the latest lesson being a chapter on The Amity Affliction. I can't say there is any one spectacular thing on this 2012 release but the sum of all its parts is pretty daggum strong. Catchy melodies, pounding core rhythms and chugga chugga but after 10 tracks I do get a hankering for a good metal guitar riff or solo. My theory on these core bands is they grew up learning guitar by tablature and just don't possess the musical acumen to pen and pick a worthwhile lead guitar part. Accept it for what it is and sink your teeth into some Life Underground and Greens Avenue.
